Kids In Motion LLC has proudly been serving the Conejo Valley area since 2008. Our founder, Brandon "Coach" Russell, has been working in our local communities for well over two decades in the fields of elementary education, parks and recreation, youth sports leagues, and community services. His passion, however, has always been working with children. That is why planning and organizing our excellent Day Camps, After-School Enrichment Classes, Sports Parties, & Private Coaching sessions has really been his lifelong dream come true. Thanks for visiting our page.
Our Camp Director, Coach Russell, has been working with kids for 26 years, teaching P.E. for 17 years, and has been running Camp Kids In Motion for the past 15 years. He is a proud graduate of California Lutheran University. He plans and oversees all aspects of camp including: managing all staff, choosing/booking all themes and attractions, planning games and activities, processing all registrations, creating camp rosters and rotations, managing payroll, and acquiring all supplies. He is often seen at camp playing GaGa, making kids laugh, playing in basketball games, building Lego masterpieces, and having Nerf gun battles in between his duties managing the camp. He often says that he has so much fun at camp because he is just the biggest kid of them all.
The majority of our adult Camp Counselors are former campers who then served several years as Counselors In Training (C.I.T.s) before being hired as paid adult staff. Only the very best C.I.T.s are offered Camp Counselor jobs. Their years of leadership experience with our campers and the process of running camp have made them relatable, reliable, and very trustworthy. Our counselors are often high-achieving college and high school students who are working at their beloved summer job. Their roles include: organizing and officiating games, helping with crafts, setting up and breaking down of activities, and general supervision. Any adult staff who is an outside hire has been vetted by Coach Russell and fingerprinted and background checked. We pride ourselves in having a high counselor to camper ratio to ensure the safety and well-being of our campers.
The Counselor In Training (C.I.T.) program is one of the greatest parts about Camp Kids In Motion. Former campers who have grown up around camp are given the opportunity to show their leadership skills from an early age. C.I.T.s must be entering 8th grade or older to be eligible for the program. They help set up and clean up activities, assist adult camp staff, moderate game play, assist during snack time and lunchtime, and occasionally play in the games too. C.I.T.s attend our staff meetings and sign a code of conduct that sets high expectations for them as role models and leaders. This volunteer program is free for them and they earn their community service hours while gaining valuable future job experience in a fun atmosphere. You can easily spot our CITs because of their traditional royal blue camp shirts.
